Attention Current Homeschoolers!

Homeschoolers Love Kimber!
Many students who attend Kimber Academy were formerly homeschooled. As demonstrated by the testimonials, parents are very pleased with how the Kimber curriculum fits in with home schooling and family values. Some of the most positive aspects of Kimber Academy are:
Low Cost. Kimber Academy is a very affordable private school.
There are four basic plans for families to choose from, which will best suit any circumstance.
Positive Atmosphere. Students adjust easily to attending school with peers who share the same basic values. A dress code of modesty and cleanliness is strictly enforced, and disrespect in action or speech is not allowed. Teachers strive to “teach with the Spirit” so that faith and testimonies can grow at school.
Family Learning. Classes are not age-group segregated. Students are divided into only three main groups: Senior (ages 12 and up), Junior B (ages 9 – 11), and Junior A (ages 6 – 8). Parents are encouraged to attend school with their children, and are welcomed into the classroom No Homework policy insures that school does not interfere with family togetherness
Variety of Subjects. In addition to the five core subjects (math, Language Arts, science, history, and religion), elective classes are available at each local Kimber Academy. These classes vary at each Academy, but usually include subjects such as dance, music, foreign languages, and art.
Family Friendly Daily Schedule. Core classes at the Academy are held only three days a week, four hours a day. Many home schooling parents enjoy doing the extra curricular activities as a family, and can
depend on Kimber Academy’s daily core schedule to teach the basic academics. Some parents choose to have their students take the extra curricular classes, such as choir and band, at public school if it is not offered at Kimber Academy. The schedule is as flexible as the parents want it to be.
No Assigned Homework. Kimber Academy instructors do not assign homework. However, parents are free to assign extra reading or schoolwork at home if they wish. Often, student begin to love learning so much that they are self-motivated to do more study at home on their own. The Kimber Academy “No Homework” policy insures that school does not interfere with family togetherness.
As homeschoolers become more familiar with the Kimber philosophy and goals, many parents have concluded that Kimber Academy is the perfect partnership. When Kimber Academy is coupled with the family’s learning
and education at home, students become well-rounded adults with strong testimonies and a tremendous amount of meaningful knowledge.
The three main goals of education at Kimber Academy are for students to:
- Build testimony with the Standard Works
- Gain knowledge of the 5 main academic subjects
- Use their knowledge in service to others
The five core subjects are only TOOLS to help the students reach these goals. In the process, students build character and develop their natural talents. Each core subject has a different method for developing those talents while the students are accomplishing the three main goals:
Math
Teaches students to self-govern by learning basic principles of math. Instead of hundreds of worksheets, students use those principles to create and solve their OWN problems.
Language Arts
Teaches students how to serve using their academic skills of reading and writing.
Science
Teaches students how to search the scriptures to discover the majesty of God’s creations, from physiology to astronomy.
History
Teaches students how to ponder the scriptures as they view the past, apply the present, and understand the prophecies of the future.
Book of Mormon Studies
Help students apply the past, present, and future in their own lives, as they discover their part in God’s marvelous plan.
If a student begins Kimber Academy at age 5 and graduates at age 16, he or she will have gone through the Book of Mormon approximately 40 times.
These five core subjects are taught three days a week for four hours a day. It’s the perfect schedule for home schoolers who have other projects and activities at home.
Social activities at Kimber Academy involve the whole family. The family dances are wholesome (no rock!), and other Academy events include musical programs, banquets, special speakers, and educational conferences.
Kimber Academy is the homeschooling family’s answer to a wholesome education!
